Blair Conklin Takes on Hurricane Genevieve's Waves in Southern California

Blair Conklin and a group of skimboarders ventured to Southern California to ride the waves created by Hurricane Genevieve, the first Category 5 hurricane of the season.

The action began at Aliso Creek, where the skimboarders breached the berm separating the creek from the ocean, a practice that has raised environmental concerns due to its impact on natural habitats. Despite this, the dramatic results were evident as they took on the waves.

Following the initial session, Conklin was joined by other riders, including John Weber and Paul Carey, for a traditional skimboarding experience. The event was marked by powerful swells in Laguna Beach, leading to significant coastal erosion and flooding, with reports of cars getting stuck in sand-filled parking lots.
