Blaze Jordan Placed on 10-Day Injured List by Cardinals

The St. Louis Cardinals announced the placement of rookie third baseman Blaze Jordan on the 10-day injured list due to a left ankle sprain. This decision was made prior to Friday's game, with utility player Thomas Saggese being called up from Triple-A to fill Jordan's roster spot.

The injury occurred during Thursday's game against the Orioles when Jordan sustained the sprain while attempting to make a play at third base. Although tests showed no structural damage, Jordan is expected to miss several weeks, which could jeopardize the remainder of his rookie season.

Jordan, who was drafted in the third round by the Cardinals in 2020, made his MLB debut earlier this season and has recorded a batting average of .247 with three home runs. The Cardinals, currently at 68-68, are evaluating their options at third base as they consider potential veteran signings to strengthen the position for the next season.
