Blue Bombers Defeat Argonauts in Dramatic East Semifinal
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers triumphed over the Toronto Argonauts 25-22 in the CFL East semifinal held on Saturday, ending the Argonauts' season.
A late-game fumble by Argonauts punt returner Janarion Grant proved costly, allowing the Bombers to capitalize. They scored the winning touchdown with a 23-yard pass from Dru Brown to Nic Demski with just 44 seconds remaining, following a turnover that set them up at the Toronto 52-yard line.
The Blue Bombers will now face the Alouettes in the East final on November 7 in Montreal. The Argonauts' quarterback Chad Kelly was injured in the fourth quarter, leading to a replacement by Nick Arbuckle. Despite the Argonauts leading at halftime, they struggled to convert turnovers into points, scoring only nine points off four Winnipeg turnovers.
