Blue Jays Acquire Jameson Taillon from Cubs

The Toronto Blue Jays have announced the acquisition of pitcher Jameson Taillon from the Chicago Cubs. To make space for Taillon on the 40-man roster, utility player Lenyn Sosa has been placed on the 60-day injured list.

Taillon was designated for assignment by the Cubs last week and is in the final season of a four-year, $68 million contract. During his first three seasons with Chicago, he performed as a reliable mid-to-back-end starter, averaging five and a half innings per start with a 3.93 ERA. However, his performance in 2026 has declined significantly, as he has allowed 25 home runs in just 15 starts, resulting in a 5.92 ERA.

Despite his struggles this season, Taillon's previous contributions included 449 1/3 innings pitched over his tenure with the Cubs, ranking him among the top pitchers in terms of innings and ERA during that period.
