Blue Jays Acquire Pitcher Matt Waldron from Padres
The Toronto Blue Jays have announced the acquisition of right-handed pitcher Matthew Waldron from the San Diego Padres.
This move comes as the team transferred left-handed pitcher Patrick Corbin to the 60-day injured list. Waldron was designated for assignment by the Padres last week, allowing the Blue Jays to claim him.
Waldron, 29, has faced challenges in the majors this season, recording a 7.16 ERA and a 1.561 WHIP over 10 appearances, including three starts. His last game was on July 25 against the Miami Marlins, where he pitched two innings and allowed one run. In contrast, he has performed well at triple-A, achieving a 1.33 ERA in eight starts. Throughout his four seasons in the MLB, all with the Padres, Waldron has a career ERA of 5.19 across 46 games.
