Bodhi Uwland Calls for Midfield Improvement After Gold Coast's Disappointing AFL Season
Bodhi Uwland, the best and fairest winner for Gold Coast, has emphasized the need for his midfield teammates to improve after the team's disappointing performance in the 2026 AFL season, where they finished 13th, missing the finals.
The Suns struggled significantly in clearance situations, ranking 16th in clearance differential, a stark contrast to their previous season's fourth-place finish. Uwland noted that the team, which includes notable players like Matt Rowell and Noah Anderson, must step up in contests to regain their competitive edge.
In response to these challenges, Gold Coast has brought in experienced players, including Scott Pendlebury, to enhance their midfield strategy. Additionally, the team welcomed new recruits Sam Butler and Aidan Schubert, aiming to strengthen their forward line after losing Ben King to Hawthorn.
