Boston Smith's Promising Season as a Mariners Prospect
Boston Smith has emerged as a notable prospect after a successful season with the Seattle Mariners, following trades from the Washington Nationals and Chicago White Sox. The 23-year-old catcher, who was drafted in the sixth round of the 2025 draft, was part of a trade that included Seranthony Domínguez and Nolan Jones in exchange for Luis Castillo.
During the 2026 season, Smith played at three levels, primarily in High-A and Double-A, where he hit 31 home runs and recorded a batting line of .274/.424/.566 over 493 plate appearances. He has since been ranked 13th in the Mariners' system.
Currently participating in the Arizona Fall League with the Peoria Javelinas, Smith has discussed his experiences, including catching top pitching prospect Kade Anderson. He expressed his excitement about the opportunity and his focus on developing his skills as a catcher while remaining versatile in the field.
