Bournemouth Signs Antonio Silva from Benfica for Up to £25.7m
Bournemouth has finalized the acquisition of Antonio Silva, a Portugal international defender, from Benfica in a transfer deal valued at up to £25.7 million. This move comes as the club seeks to replace Marcos Senesi, who departed during the summer.
The transfer consists of an initial fee of £21.4 million, with an additional £4.3 million available in performance-related add-ons. Silva, at just 22 years old, has already made over 200 appearances for Benfica and has represented Portugal 20 times, including participation in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Silva has achieved significant success, winning six titles with Benfica and the national team, and was recognized as the best defender in the Portuguese league for the 2022/23 season. Bournemouth aims to enhance its defensive lineup with Silva's strong presence and ball-playing abilities, particularly in the left center-back position previously held by Senesi.
