Braden Shewmake Returns to Astros on Minor League Deal

Infielder Braden Shewmake has rejoined the Houston Astros after signing a minor league contract. The agreement was announced by the team earlier today.

Shewmake, who recently elected free agency after being designated for assignment by the Brewers, previously played 30 games for the Astros this season, achieving a batting line of .256/.272/.423 with three home runs. He had a short stint with the Brewers, where he batted 2-for-7 in four games before being released.

Known for his defensive skills, Shewmake can play multiple infield positions and provided depth during injuries to key players. He will be assigned to the Astros' Triple-A affiliate in Sugar Land, returning to Texas, where he has a career batting average of .240 in five Triple-A seasons.
