Brandon Woodruff Aims for World Series Return with Brewers
The Milwaukee Brewers have advanced to the World Series for the first time since 1982 after completing a sweep of the Dodgers, overcoming a four-run deficit in the process. The team's pitching staff performed well in the NLCS, limiting the Dodgers to just 11 runs across four games. Right-hander Brandon Woodruff, who has been out since July 4 due to shoulder inflammation, is optimistic about joining the team for the World Series.
Woodruff expressed his determination to be included on the roster, stating that he needs to face live hitters soon. He started the season healthy, making six starts before being placed on the injured list due to shoulder issues. After a brief return, he was again sidelined on July 5. Although he has not participated in any rehab games, he has been throwing off flat ground recently.
If he returns, Woodruff is expected to serve as a reliever in low-leverage situations. His last playoff appearance was in the 2021 Division Series, and he has missed the previous two seasons' Wild Card Series due to injuries. As he approaches free agency, Woodruff's injury history may impact his contract negotiations, but his past performance when healthy could attract interest from teams.
