Braves Acquire Lane Thomas and Bailey Falter from Royals
The Atlanta Braves have completed a trade with the Kansas City Royals, acquiring outfielder Lane Thomas and pitcher Bailey Falter. This move was confirmed on Saturday and affects the Yankees' potential trade targets as the deadline approaches.
In exchange, the Braves will send minor-league pitchers Carter Holton and Lucas Braun to the Royals. Thomas, who has been with the Royals for one season, has a batting average of .230 and an OPS of .717, along with 10 home runs this season. Falter has struggled with elbow inflammation, posting a 13.97 ERA over five appearances.
This acquisition comes as the Braves, currently leading the National League East by 8½ games, look to strengthen their lineup for a playoff push. Braun is noted as the No. 8 prospect in Atlanta's system, according to MLB.com.
