Braves Acquire Lane Thomas and Bailey Falter from Royals

The Atlanta Braves have made a move in the trade market by acquiring outfielder Lane Thomas and left-handed reliever Bailey Falter from the Kansas City Royals, as announced by both teams on Saturday.

In exchange, the Braves are sending minor-league pitchers Lucas Braun and Carter Holton to Kansas City. Thomas, 30, has recorded 10 home runs this season in 96 games with the Royals, boasting a .717 OPS and performing well against left-handed pitchers with an .800 OPS. Falter, 29, has had a challenging season, allowing 15 earned runs over 9.2 innings, but previously had a 4.45 ERA across 26 appearances in 2025.

Falter has been playing in triple-A since May, where he has achieved a 3.35 ERA and 46 strikeouts in 43 innings. Both Thomas and Falter are set to become free agents at the end of the season. Braun, a 24-year-old right-hander, has a 3.92 ERA in triple-A and was ranked as Atlanta's No. 8 prospect, while Holton, 23, has a 4.32 ERA in low-A this season.
