Braves Add Brett Wisely to 40-Man Roster
The Atlanta Braves have officially added infielder Brett Wisely to their 40-man roster, as reported by the MLB.com transaction tracker. In a corresponding move, outfielder DaShawn Keirsey Jr. was outrighted off the roster, indicating he was likely placed on waivers earlier this week.
This marks the second minor roster adjustment made by the Braves since their postseason exit. The decision to include Wisely is part of a strategy related to minor league free agency, similar to the recent selection of reliever Danny Young. Wisely, who was drafted in 2019, has accumulated eight seasons in the minor leagues and can opt for free agency if not retained on the 40-man roster.
Wisely, 27, had a successful season with Triple-A Gwinnett, achieving a batting line of .281/.399/.436 with 11 home runs and 29 stolen bases. Despite his minor league success, he has struggled at the MLB level, posting a career batting average of .214 with the Braves and Giants from 2023 to 2025. Meanwhile, Keirsey, who had limited MLB appearances this season, will also qualify for free agency and is expected to seek another minor league contract.
