Braves Assign Danny Young to Triple-A Gwinnett
The Atlanta Braves have sent left-handed pitcher Danny Young to Triple-A Gwinnett after he cleared waivers. This move follows his designation for assignment last week.
Young, who has a prior outright, has the option to reject this assignment and choose free agency. However, doing so would mean forfeiting his remaining salary commitments, as he has less than five years of major league service time. He signed a split contract with Atlanta, which includes a $925,000 salary in the majors and $400,000 in the minors.
Young previously played for the Mets but underwent Tommy John surgery in May 2025. After recovering, he joined the Braves but struggled, posting an 8.03 earned run average in 16 appearances. If he reports to Gwinnett, he will have the chance to improve his performance in a less demanding setting.
