Braves Designate Bailey Falter for Assignment
The Atlanta Braves announced the designation of left-hander Bailey Falter for assignment on September 14, 2026. Right-hander Owen Murphy has been recalled from Triple-A to replace him on the active roster.
Falter, 29, was acquired from the Royals along with outfielder Lane Thomas before the 2026 trade deadline. He pitched 3 1/3 scoreless innings with the Braves after being added to the 40-man roster, but had struggled earlier in the season with Kansas City, allowing 15 runs in 9 2/3 innings.
Despite a few solid years as a starter, Falter's recent performance has raised concerns. He has a career ERA of 4.73 and a strikeout rate of 17.6%. It is unlikely he will be claimed off waivers due to his salary and performance history. If he clears waivers, he will be sent to Triple-A Gwinnett, where he can opt for free agency but would lose his guaranteed salary.
