Braves Designate Danny Young for Assignment, Add Ray Kerr to Roster

The Atlanta Braves have made a roster change by designating left-handed pitcher Danny Young for assignment and selecting Ray Kerr to join the 40-man roster. This decision was reported by Chad Bishop of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Young, who had undergone reconstructive elbow surgery last year, returned to the Braves' bullpen after a successful rehabilitation stint. He initially performed well in July, achieving a 2.08 ERA over 12 appearances. However, his performance deteriorated in August, where he allowed nine earned runs in just 3 2/3 innings, including three earned runs in a recent game against the Diamondbacks.

Despite his earlier success, Young's underlying statistics raised concerns, as he had an equal number of strikeouts and walks in July and faced issues with hard contact. The Braves' roster now has an open spot following this move.
