Braves Send Jim Jarvis to Triple-A Gwinnett

The Atlanta Braves have optioned rookie infielder Jim Jarvis to Triple-A Gwinnett during their off day on Monday. Outfielder Brewer Hicklen continues to be part of the active roster after serving as the 27th man for the Little League Classic against Milwaukee on Sunday.

Jim Jarvis, who was named the starting shortstop three weeks ago, has struggled in August, managing only three hits and three walks in 42 plate appearances, resulting in a season batting average of .207. His performance included seven errors over approximately 300 innings played.

With Jarvis's optioning, Mauricio Dubón is expected to take on the primary shortstop role. Dubón has had a solid season, hitting .268 with 10 home runs, and is recognized for his defensive skills, having won two Gold Gloves. The Braves have faced challenges in their lineup, ranking low in scoring as they maintain their lead in the NL East.
