Braves Set to Call Up Blake Burkhalter and Kyle Farmer

Burkhalter, a second-round pick in 2022, is not currently on the 40-man roster, which is full, necessitating a corresponding move for his contract selection.

Alongside Burkhalter, infielder Kyle Farmer is also expected to join the roster as active rosters expand from 26 to 28 players. Burkhalter, 25, has shown impressive performance since returning from a back injury, posting a 1.26 ERA in 35 2/3 innings this season, with a notable strikeout rate of 32.2%. Farmer, 36, has had limited playtime this season but is valued for his versatility across multiple infield positions.

The Braves recently released Jorge Mateo and sent Jim Jarvis to the minors, leaving them short at shortstop. Farmer's addition may provide depth and allow the team to manage player workloads as they approach the postseason.
