Brendon McCullum Supports Harry Brook as Future Test Captain

Brendon McCullum, the England white-ball coach, has indicated that Harry Brook is a strong candidate for the Test captaincy in the future. Brook, who is currently 27 years old, serves as England's white-ball captain and was previously the Test vice-captain. Following Ben Stokes' retirement, Joe Root has been reappointed as captain, a role he held from 2017 to 2022.

McCullum, who was dismissed in July after a series of poor results, expressed his support for Root's leadership while Brook prepares the team for the 50-over World Cup next year. He acknowledged Brook's talent and leadership skills, stating that his time as Test captain will come.

Brook recently led England to a 2-1 victory in a one-day international series against India and has performed well in The Hundred. The first Test against Pakistan is set to begin on August 19, marking Root's return as captain. McCullum also endorsed Stephen Fleming, who has taken over as Test coach, noting that Fleming will be an excellent fit for the role.
