Brent Crews and William Sawalich's Chase Hopes End at Daytona
Brent Crews and William Sawalich entered the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series race at Daytona with hopes of qualifying for the Chase, but their aspirations were dashed following crashes during the event.
Both drivers from Joe Gibbs Racing were involved in significant wrecks, with Crews' team working to repair his car while he faced the possibility of returning to the track many laps down. Sawalich's race ended prematurely after a crash on Lap 44, which also affected other competitors.
Parker Retzlaff secured a Chase spot at the end of Stage 1, leaving only three spots available. With their current standings, it appears unlikely that either Crews or Sawalich will qualify for the postseason. The O'Reilly Series Chase is set to commence at Darlington Raceway on September 5.
