Brentford Signs Mamadou Sangare for Record Fee

Brentford has made a record transfer by acquiring Mamadou Sangare from Lens for £5.5 million. The Mali international joins the club after a standout season in Ligue 1, where he played a crucial role in helping Lens secure a second-place finish and qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

Sangare, 24, was recognized for his exceptional performance, earning a spot in the Ligue 1 Team of the Season and winning the Marc-Vivien Foé Award as the league's best African player. His career began in Mali with Yeelen Olympique before moving to Red Bull Salzburg, followed by successful loan spells in Austria and Belgium.

At Brentford, Sangare is expected to compete for a midfield position alongside Yehor Yarmoliuk, Vitaly Janelt, and Mathias Jensen. Known for his ability to press high and transition play effectively, he is anticipated to fit well into the team's style under coach Keith Andrews.
