Brewers Demote Rookie Brandon Sproat to Triple-A
The Milwaukee Brewers have sent rookie pitcher Brandon Sproat to Triple-A Nashville after a difficult outing against the Pittsburgh Pirates. This decision was made prior to the Brewers' 4-2 victory over Pittsburgh.
Sproat, who has been with the team since mid-April, struggled recently, culminating in a performance where he allowed four runs in three innings. His season earned run average now stands at 5.27 over 95 2/3 innings. The Brewers also optioned Garrett Stallings, making room for new acquisitions Dustin May and Antonio Senzatela.
With Sproat's demotion, the Brewers are set to activate Kyle Harrison from the injured list. Sproat still has minor league options available and could return to the major league roster in about 15 days, although his chances of making the playoff roster appear slim.
