Brewers Designate Bryse Wilson, Promote Lyon Richardson
The Milwaukee Brewers have designated right-hander Bryse Wilson for assignment and have selected the contract of fellow right-hander Lyon Richardson from Triple-A Nashville. This roster change was announced on August 8, 2026.
This marks the third time in less than two months that Wilson has been designated for assignment. After being DFA’d by the Phillies in June, he was claimed by the Cubs, who later designated him as well. Wilson has a 4.24 ERA over 23 1/3 innings this season, but despite a solid performance since rejoining the Brewers, he was affected by a roster crunch.
Richardson is set to make his first MLB appearance with a team other than the Reds, who drafted him in 2018. He has struggled in his previous major league outings, holding a 6.67 ERA across 56 2/3 innings. His promotion may provide the Brewers with additional bullpen depth, at least until their next off-day on August 17.
