Brewers Honor Bob Uecker During Postseason with Stand Up to Cancer Cards
Bob Uecker, a former major league catcher and long-time broadcaster for the Milwaukee Brewers, is remembered fondly by the team during their postseason run. Uecker, who passed away from small-cell lung cancer in 2025, had been a part of the Brewers since 1971.
As the Brewers compete for their first championship, fans have shown their respect by leaving beer cans at his statue outside American Family Field. Robin Yount, a franchise legend, honored Uecker by wearing a plaid sport coat and Uecker jersey while throwing out the first pitch for Game 1 of the World Series.
All Brewers players have written Uecker's name on their Stand Up to Cancer cards, reflecting his lasting impact on the organization. While the team is on the brink of a historic victory, Uecker's absence adds a bittersweet note to the celebration.
