Brewers Trade for Jonathan Ornelas from Athletics

The Milwaukee Brewers have completed a trade with the Oakland Athletics, acquiring Jonathan Ornelas for cash considerations. The deal was finalized on August 15, 2026, and Ornelas is expected to be active for the Brewers' game against the Dodgers later that evening.

As part of the transaction, Jihwan Bae will be designated for assignment. Ornelas had recently played for the Athletics and was designated for assignment before opting for free agency. He subsequently signed a minor league deal with the A's, which allowed him to be traded despite the recent trade deadline.
