Briatore Questions Alpine's Race Performance
Flavio Briatore, the head of Alpine, has voiced his perplexity regarding the team's failure to win races, despite having what he describes as all necessary resources in place.
Although the decision to partner with Mercedes has proven beneficial, Alpine has not achieved the anticipated progress. Currently, the team is positioned sixth in the standings, significantly ahead of lower-ranked teams but still facing challenges from competitors like Red Bull.
Briatore, who returned to the team as an executive advisor in May 2024, has implemented substantial changes, including reducing staff and cutting costs. He emphasizes the need for creativity and risk-taking to enhance performance, while also noting that the team is no longer viewed as a laughing stock in the paddock.
