Brighton and Hove Albion Signs Canadian Striker Promise David on Loan
Brighton and Hove Albion has confirmed the signing of Canadian striker Promise David on a season-long loan from Union Saint-Gilloise, as announced on Tuesday.
The agreement includes an obligation to purchase David for approximately $29.7 million, contingent on certain undisclosed conditions. David is set to play in the Premier League starting next season, marking a record transfer fee for Union Saint-Gilloise.
During his two seasons at Union, David scored 41 goals in 82 matches and contributed to the club's first league title in 90 years in 2025. The 25-year-old has also represented Canada in the recent World Cup, scoring one goal in limited appearances. Born in Brampton, Ontario, David switched his international allegiance from Nigeria to Canada in 2025 after FIFA approved his request.
