Brighton Could Join Title Race with Wins Over Liverpool and Man City
Paul Merson has indicated that Brighton could enter the Premier League title race if they secure victories in their upcoming matches against Liverpool and Manchester City. The Seagulls are currently positioned third in the league standings, trailing only Manchester City and Arsenal, and have achieved four consecutive wins in their last league matches.
Brighton's next challenge is a match against Liverpool, scheduled to be broadcast live on Sky Sports Premier League. Historically, Brighton has struggled at Anfield, having not won in their last six visits. Following the Liverpool match, Brighton will face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on October 31, just days after a Carabao Cup fixture against the same team.
Merson emphasized that winning these two matches would firmly establish Brighton as title contenders, regardless of the season's timeline. He noted that while Liverpool is currently underperforming, Brighton's recent form suggests they should not be underestimated. Jamie Carragher also praised Brighton's playing style, comparing it to that of Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool, and expressed that they deserve their current league position.
