Brisbane Coach Scott Thompson Declines Adelaide's Offer to Return
Scott Thompson, the development coach for Brisbane, disclosed that his former team, Adelaide, expressed interest in bringing him back to West Lakes. However, Thompson has opted to stay with the Lions, where he has been since returning to the AFL a year ago.
Thompson has been instrumental in developing Brisbane's midfield group and has worked closely with Cameron Bruce. Despite discussions with the Crows, he feels that his current environment is conducive to his growth as a coach and is not ready to leave.
Thompson, a retired AFL player with 308 games under his belt, joined Brisbane after a stint at Port Adelaide. He noted that his connections with Bruce and Chris Fagan influenced his move to Queensland. Brisbane is currently in the process of selecting a new senior coach, with an announcement expected before the 2026 AFL Draft in November.
