Bristol Bears Sign Totoa Auvaa After Saracens Departure
Totoa Auvaa has signed with Bristol Bears after being released by Saracens earlier this month. The 21-year-old forward faced disciplinary issues, including a nightclub incident involving England cricketers, which led to his dismissal from Saracens two weeks ago.
Upon announcing Auvaa's signing, Bristol's director of rugby Pat Lam expressed his belief in providing second chances. He noted that Auvaa has been training impressively and has the potential to develop into a strong player. Lam also mentioned that Maro Itoje, captain of Saracens and the British & Irish Lions, has been supportive of Auvaa during this transition.
Lam indicated that while Auvaa has a past, the focus is on his future and integration into the team. He highlighted the importance of learning from mistakes and emphasized the supportive environment at Bristol Bears. Auvaa previously made one senior appearance for Saracens and is expected to participate in upcoming matches for Bristol.
