British Couple in Iran Ends Hunger Strike After 93 and 84 Days
A British couple, Craig and Lindsay Foreman, who are imprisoned in Iran on espionage allegations, have ended their hunger strikes after 93 and 84 days, respectively. They were arrested in January 2025 while traveling on a motorcycle from Europe to Australia and were sentenced to 10 years in prison in February.
The couple initiated their hunger strikes in May to protest against the denial of family communication by prison authorities. Their family reported that the couple agreed to end their strikes to regain the ability to speak with their loved ones, although contact had not been re-established as of Monday afternoon.
During the final five days of their protest, five supporters in the UK joined the hunger strike to express solidarity. The couple's family has been in discussions with UK officials regarding their situation, emphasizing the need for action to address what they describe as arbitrary detention.
