Broncos' Sean Payton Discusses Bo Nix's Preseason Recovery Plan

The Denver Broncos are gradually reintegrating quarterback Bo Nix, who is recovering from two surgeries on his right ankle. Nix sustained a fracture during the AFC divisional-round playoff victory over the Buffalo Bills and underwent surgery in January, followed by another procedure in April to address bone spurs.

Although Nix was limited throughout the offseason, he has been practicing fully since training camp began. Head coach Sean Payton announced that Nix will participate in the Broncos' preseason games, although he will not play in the first game against the Atlanta Falcons scheduled for Friday. Payton indicated that Nix is expected to play in the following week.

Nix has expressed confidence in his recovery, stating that the surgeries have not hindered his ability to run. Last season, he achieved 3,931 passing yards and 25 touchdowns, along with 356 rushing yards. Payton noted that Nix is performing well and would be ready to play at full capacity if it were a regular-season game.
