Bronny James Struggles in Preseason Games, Lakers Coach Comments
Bronny James, guard for the Los Angeles Lakers, has faced difficulties during the preseason, accumulating only 11 points and 12 turnovers in four games. This season marks his third year in the NBA and his first without his father, LeBron James, on the same team.
In a recent game against the Golden State Warriors, which ended in a 101-89 loss for the Lakers, James did not score in 11 minutes of play, attempting only two shots and recording one rebound, one steal, and four turnovers. Coach JJ Redick acknowledged that James has not performed well in the preseason games but noted that he has shown promise in practice.
The Lakers have guaranteed James' contract for the 2026-27 season at $2.29 million, part of a four-year deal he signed after being drafted 55th overall in 2024. As the team prepares for the regular season opener against the Warriors on October 21, they must reduce their roster from 16 players, with one final preseason game against the Nuggets scheduled for Friday.
