Brooke Henderson Aims for Strong Finish at CPKC Women’s Open
EDMONTON – Brooke Henderson is looking to enhance her standing at the CPKC Women’s Open after finishing the first round with a score of 3-under 67. Following a bogey on the first hole, she quickly recovered with a birdie on the second and continued to perform well, including a crucial birdie on the 18th hole.
Henderson, who has not competed on the LPGA Tour for two weeks, expressed satisfaction with her performance, especially in front of a large home crowd. She trails first-round leader Miyu Yamashita by five shots and aims to improve her scoring average, which has been lower than expected this season.
Ranked No. 11 in the world, Henderson is striving to become the first player to win consecutive titles at this event since Lydia Ko in 2012-13. She will begin her second round at 8:06 a.m. local time.
