This decision follows a report that incorrectly stated Gabriel would make the roster. Despite his impressive performance in the preseason finale, where he completed 12 of 15 passes for 186 yards and three touchdowns, he will not be available for at least four games.

Deshaun Watson is set to start at quarterback for the Browns in Week 1. The team also announced that tight end Joe Royer will remain on the non-football injury list, missing a minimum of four games. Additionally, the Browns have made several roster cuts, releasing multiple players including cornerback Myles Bryant and defensive tackle Sam Kamara.
