ESPN draft analyst Field Yates forecasts that the Cleveland Browns will select C.J. Carr, a quarterback from Notre Dame, with the third overall pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. This projection suggests that the team views Carr as a long-term solution rather than Shedeur Sanders.

Yates shared his insights during the "First Draft" podcast, noting that the Browns' current quarterback situation reflects their stance on Sanders. As the 2026 season begins, Deshaun Watson is set to start, with Sanders listed as a backup. Dillon Gabriel is on injured reserve, while rookie Taylen Green occupies the third spot on the depth chart.

Yates emphasized that if the Browns believed Sanders was their future starter, he would have been named the Week 1 quarterback instead of Watson. Carr's performance in college, including 2,741 passing yards and 24 touchdowns in his freshman season, positions him as a strong candidate for the draft, especially if he leads Notre Dame to a successful season.
