Bryan McCabe Reflects on His Transition from Player to NHL Executive

Bryan McCabe, a former NHL defenceman with 1,135 games played, has spent the last 15 years in player development, recently concluding his tenure with the Florida Panthers. After declining a contract extension that expired on July 1, McCabe is now seeking new opportunities in the NHL.

McCabe began his role in player development in 2011, initially working under Brian Skrudland before becoming the Director of Player Development. He has focused on building relationships with players and adapting to the evolving landscape of player training, which now includes various coaching specialties.

Reflecting on his career, McCabe highlighted the importance of identity for prospects transitioning to the NHL and shared insights on the development of players like MacKenzie Weegar.
