Bryce Remsburg Discusses Transition from Indie Referee to AEW
Since the inaugural AEW Double or Nothing in May 2019, Bryce Remsburg has been a key referee for AEW, also taking on the role of travel manager. Prior to joining AEW, he spent over a decade as a prominent referee on the independent wrestling circuit.
Remsburg noted that the transition to AEW was not as straightforward as it might seem. He compared his experience refereeing on the indies to pursuing a degree, stating that while he felt prepared, the new environment presented unique challenges. A significant difference was the communication he received through an earpiece during matches, which allowed him to hear instructions from AEW's owner, Tony Khan, and other officials.
He explained that it took time to adjust to this new dynamic, particularly during the early months of AEW. The shift to performing in front of no crowds during the pandemic provided him with an opportunity to build confidence in his television refereeing skills.
