Bryson Barnes Leads Redblacks to Dramatic Victory Over Argonauts
In a remarkable debut, Bryson Barnes led the Ottawa Redblacks to a 40-39 victory over the Toronto Argonauts, marking the team's first win of the season. The game took place on Friday, preventing the Redblacks from potentially finishing the season without a win.
Barnes, who completed 27 of 37 passes for 339 yards and two touchdowns, orchestrated a last-minute touchdown drive, culminating in a 24-yard touchdown pass to Ayden Eberhardt with just six seconds remaining. This performance ended a 22-game losing streak for the Redblacks, dating back to the previous season.
Redblacks head coach Ryan Dinwiddie noted the importance of allowing Barnes time to develop before starting him. The Argonauts, who had already secured a playoff spot, faced challenges as their star quarterback Chad Kelly exited the game with an injury. The Argos will conclude their season against the Montreal Alouettes next week.
