LIV Golf has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in New Jersey, following financial difficulties exacerbated by the withdrawal of funding from the PIF in April. The filing identifies Bryson DeChambeau and Cam Smith as creditors owed $5.77 million and $4.8 million, respectively.

DeChambeau is represented by a team of seven attorneys from two law firms, while Smith has a single lawyer. The bankruptcy documents reveal that other notable players, including Jon Rahm and Dustin Johnson, are also listed as creditors, with Rahm's debt estimated at around $7.4 million.

As LIV Golf navigates its financial challenges, it plans to secure a $50 million loan from the PIF and aims to relaunch under a new model, termed 'LIV 2.0,' with funding from BC Partners in 2027. The bankruptcy filing puts all player contracts in limbo, although both DeChambeau and Smith have not indicated intentions to leave the league.
