Bryson Stott Out of Phillies Lineup Against Cardinals
Bryson Stott, the third baseman for the Philadelphia Phillies, is absent from the lineup for Saturday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals at Citizens Bank Park. Stott has been performing well, batting .318 with a .376 on-base percentage in August, and has an .838 OPS against left-handed pitchers this season.
This marks the first time Stott has started a game on the bench since June 5. Phillies interim manager Don Mattingly clarified that Stott's absence is not due to fatigue but rather a strategy to keep all players engaged, as the team faces a left-handed pitcher.
In Stott's place, Edmundo Sosa will play third base. The Phillies are also adjusting their lineup with Bryan De La Cruz in left field and Derek Hill in center field. Meanwhile, Tanner Banks is making progress in his recovery from a forearm strain, having thrown live batting practice recently. His return to game action will depend on his recovery status.
