BT Worker Voices Concerns Over Office Closure and Relocation

Lesley Wood, a long-time employee of British Telecom (BT), has raised concerns about the company's decision to close its Liverpool office and relocate approximately 600 jobs to Manchester and Leeds. The closure is set to occur in March when the lease expires, prompting protests from affected workers.

Wood, who has been with BT for 39 years, stated that the relocation would require her to commute three to four hours daily from Southport, severely affecting her work-life balance. She noted that this situation is not new, as she has previously faced relocation during the closure of another office in Warrington.

Other employees, like Heather Taylor, have also expressed their distress over the move, citing increased commute times and the loss of team members. The Communication Workers Union has warned that the closure will significantly impact the local economy, affecting businesses that rely on the office workers. BT has acknowledged the concerns and stated that it is committed to supporting employees during this transition.
