Bubba Wallace Reflects on Near Win at Phoenix NASCAR Race
Bubba Wallace experienced a challenging race at the NASCAR Cup event in Phoenix, where he was leading before a late caution disrupted his momentum. Despite being in control and having led for 52 laps, Wallace's pit stop strategy backfired, resulting in a ninth-place exit from the pits.
During the final caution, Wallace opted for four fresh tires while other competitors chose different strategies, which ultimately placed him at a disadvantage. A speeding penalty on pit road further complicated his efforts, forcing him to finish in 17th place. This marks another near miss for Wallace and the No. 23 team, who have not secured a victory since the summer of 2025.
After the race, Wallace expressed frustration over the penalty but also acknowledged the team's achievements, as his teammate Tyler Reddick won the race and Toyota clinched the manufacturer's title. Wallace remains hopeful for the remaining races of the season.
