Buccaneers Activate Easton Stick and J.J. Roberts for Game Against Cowboys
The Buccaneers have activated safety J.J. Roberts and quarterback Easton Stick from their practice squad ahead of Thursday night's game against the Cowboys.
This activation allows both players to participate in the game. This marks the first elevation for Roberts and the second for Stick, who will serve as the backup to rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels, making his second NFL start in place of Baker Mayfield, who is sidelined due to a dislocated right thumb.
Stick joined the Buccaneers' practice squad on August 31 and has prior experience in the system of offensive coordinator Zac Robinson from their time together in Atlanta. He was a fifth-round draft pick by the Chargers in 2019 and has played in six games, starting four, with a completion record of 111 passes out of 174 attempts for 1,129 yards, three touchdowns, one interception, and an 85.7 passer rating. Roberts, who joined the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent from Marshall in 2025, has yet to appear in a regular-season game.
