Buccaneers Extend Vita Vea's Contract for One Year
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers confirmed on Wednesday that they have extended defensive lineman Vita Vea's contract for one additional year.
The negotiation process was more challenging than anticipated, with Vea initially requesting a trade before opting to hold in during training camp. Ultimately, both parties reached an agreement, allowing Vea to remain with the team through at least the 2027 season, with a new financial package worth $30 million.
General Manager Jason Licht expressed that Vea embodies the qualities the team seeks in a player and leader. Vea, who was drafted 12th overall in 2018, has played 112 games, starting 107, and has achieved notable statistics including 256 tackles and 35 sacks, placing him eighth in franchise history.
