Burnley Parts Ways with Head Coach Nicky Hayen After Poor Start
Nicky Hayen has been relieved of his duties as head coach of Burnley following a disappointing start to the Championship season. Appointed in July, Hayen oversaw only one victory in 12 league matches, culminating in a 4-1 defeat against Lincoln on Saturday.
Under Hayen's leadership, Burnley, once considered a strong contender for promotion, now finds itself in the relegation zone, positioned third from the bottom. The team has also recorded the joint-worst defensive statistics in the league. A brief statement from the club confirmed his immediate dismissal due to the unsatisfactory performance.
Hayen's tenure began with a win in the Carabao Cup but was followed by an early exit in the next round. His only league victory came against Watford earlier this month. After the loss to Lincoln, Hayen expressed frustration over the team's inability to execute their training effectively during matches.
