BYU and Texas Tech Suffer Losses, Impacting Big 12 Standings
On Saturday, BYU and Texas Tech experienced losses that proved detrimental for the Big 12 conference.
BYU fell to Central Florida with a score of 39-31 in double overtime, while Texas Tech lost 37-24 at Cincinnati. Utah's 21-13 victory over Houston prevented a historic day where three top 10 ranked Big 12 teams could have lost simultaneously.
Following these defeats, BYU dropped from second to eighth in the Associated Press Top 25 rankings and from third to ninth in the AFCA Coaches Polls. Texas Tech slid from eighth to 13th in the AP rankings and from fifth to 14th in the AFCA polls. Utah improved its ranking from 10th to sixth in the AP Top 25 and is currently the only undefeated team in the Big 12.
