Cade Marlowe Exercises Opt-Out from Angels Contract

Outfielder Cade Marlowe has opted out of his minor league contract with the Angels, as reported by Ari Alexander of Boston 7 News. The Angels must now decide whether to add him to their 40-man roster or release him.

This season, Marlowe has played for both the A's and Angels, showcasing strong performance in the Pacific Coast League with a batting average of .313 and 11 home runs in 453 plate appearances. However, his statistics have declined slightly after transitioning to the Angels' organization, where he has recorded a .296 average and a 28% strikeout rate in 23 games.

The 29-year-old has previously played 42 games in Major League Baseball with the Mariners, holding a career batting line of .240/.330/.406. While he is capable of playing all three outfield positions, his hitting ability is considered below average. The Angels currently have Mike Trout in center field, with Jose Siri and Josh Lowe occupying the corner spots.
