Cade Povich Undergoes Elbow Surgery, Expected Back for Spring Training
Cade Povich, a left-handed pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles, underwent surgery on Wednesday to remove loose bodies from his elbow. He is expected to be ready for Spring Training.
Povich had previously been placed on the 15-day injured list due to elbow inflammation on May 8, returning to play on June 27. Despite this being his only stint on the injured list for the 2026 season, he experienced significant pain towards the end of the season, which contributed to his struggles in September.
Throughout the final month, Povich made three starts, allowing 14 earned runs over 14 2/3 innings. He concluded the season with a 6.28 ERA in Triple-A, while his major league performance included a 4.38 ERA over eight appearances. The Orioles acquired Povich in a trade with the Twins in 2022, and he may compete for a starting position in the upcoming spring as the team faces potential free agency losses among their pitchers.
