Cadillac and Haas Face Challenges Ahead of Dutch Grand Prix
As Formula 1 resumes with the Dutch Grand Prix this weekend, Cadillac remains the only team yet to score points this season. Following a four-week summer break, the race at Zandvoort will see Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli leading the drivers' championship by 50 points.
Cadillac's chief executive, Dan Towriss, recently replaced team principal Graeme Lowdon, citing dissatisfaction with the team's performance in the first 11 races. Despite Lowdon's efforts to establish the team under challenging circumstances, Cadillac has struggled, averaging 1.2 seconds slower than the next slowest team, Williams, and facing significant reliability issues, particularly with overheating brakes.
Meanwhile, Haas, the smallest team in F1, has seen a decline in performance after a promising start to the season. Despite achieving consecutive points finishes early on, they have fallen to eighth place in the standings as other teams have introduced upgrades. Team principal Ayao Komatsu noted a fundamental weakness in high-speed downforce, and while a new simulator is on the way, questions remain about the team's future direction and investment.
